Introduction:
The Age of High Men
When Heaven and Earth were created, races of High Men
were given a continent to populate. They utilised the natural resources
of the land and began to found the seeds of civilization. The Seraphim,
angelic deputies of God, were assigned to help the High Men, and mingled
freely with the humans in small bastions set up to hold the wilderness
at bay.
As their numbers increased, the High Men began to form
tribes, which then gradually gave birth to new nations all over the
continent. The study of Science, Politics, Art, Economy and Religion
were developed by combining the teachings of the Seraphs and the inherent
intelligence of High Men. Technology and Theology rose to the forefront
of culture, while the practice of both Arcane and Natural forms of magic
was reserved to a select few.
The Continent of Evil
While all seemed well on the earthly continent, not
all of the Seraphim were happy about God's adoring love and favouritism
towards the High Men. As the discontent of some Seraphs residing in
Hekhaloth (God's territory) deepened, a rebel group of Seraphs, started
the Great Heavenly War. The leader of these rebels was called Harden,
and it was he who stuck the first blow against a fellow Seraph.
It seemed at first that victory of the War would go
to the rebels, for they knew the structure of Heaven well. However,
their efforts to wrest power were constantly frustrated by the Hekhaloth's
army of loyal angels guided by the mighty Archangel Kafma. Few could
stand against Kafma's zeal, and fewer still could hold up against his
flaming sword, which cleaved both holy metal and celestial flesh as
easily as butter.
The Continental War
Due to the Great Heavenly War, the High Men began to
wonder about their Creation. The seeds of doubt took root in their hearts,
and the World of Men, where civilizations were stabilized based on advanced
science and technology, came to face with a huge turmoil of change.
God and heavenly existence, the former subjects of worship, suddenly
degraded and Theology was thrown out of the window.
Worse still, the essence of the Seraphim that had been
slain in The Great Heavenly War began to settle upon the Earth below,
and newborn children were found to possess the power of Sephira. This
generated a civilization of Magic, and the power created by such civilizations
was threatening enough to influence the will of Men to challenge God.
'Koren', a Royal magician from 'Neses', one of the Mighty
Cities built by the new civilization, conspired with Harden, who had
fled from the Great Heavenly War. Together they waged war against Armia,
which was the stronghold of God's faithful on Earth.
Harden devastated the Continent by summoning the Hyper-Monster,
a synthesised creature made from different parts of the most powerful
creatures on Earth and Hekhaloth. A similar Hyper-Monster had been the
main reason for Harden's defeat in the Heavenly War, the High Men had
no chance against such a creature. In a blazing instant, the World of
Men was awash with blood, and the forces of Hekhaloth withdrew and closed
the 'Sephirotte', a corridor linking Earth to Heaven.
The Continent of Evil
Darkness had fallen over the World of Men, and there
was not a single pure soul to be found. The Continent was overrun by
vicious and violently evil beings, and they brutally slaughtered every
living creature they came across. The race of High Men had been exterminated
from the Continent, and only darkness separated the ground from the
sky. Harden had achieved his initial goal, and the only thing left for
him to do was to conquer Hekhaloth. Since the 'Sephirotte' had been
destroyed in the Continental War, Harden began to build a 'Tower of
Retaliation', a bridge from Earth to Heaven, seeking to extend his power
and territory.
To Glorious Hope...
Four hundred years have passed since Harden's brutal
massacre struck the Continent...
Small groups of Men began to appear, claiming to hail
from a place called 'Armia'. They had hidden themselves there to defend
themselves from the tempest of destruction, waiting for the time to
re-emerge. Each one had the same mission, which was to restore Mankind
to the 'Age of Glory'. Each one also dreamt of achieving their Supreme
Destiny, and once again reclaim the power of Sephira...
